I found out I am definately pregnant Friday, but I've been cramping and having back pain since Wednesday. My family says I shouldn't be cramping until later in pregnancy but no one in my family has had WLS. I didn't know if this was a symptom only we had. Please respond I'm worried about this, thanxs

Lots of women cramp with pregnancy. If there is any bleeding, though, call your doctor.

I agree w/the pp...lots of women have cramping when they're pg - in various stages of the pregnancy.  WLS has nothing to do with it.  Every pregnancy is different.

If it's too bad, call your dr just to be checked out...but other than that, just take it one day at a time.

I just found out too (friday was my period day) and have occasional light cramps. From everything I've read, it's normal as long as there is no bleeding. I did mention this to my obgyn, so she is checking my HCG levels every few days and I already had a sonogram so she can rule out ectopic pregnancy. But they didn't see anything on the ultrasound so I am having another this friday.

That is not true that back pain and cramping comes later in pregnancy. I am here to tell you from personal experience that is not true. I had cramping all throughout this pregnancy. I am 26 weeks now. I have also had bleeding. And the baby is still fine and kicking up her heels. Don't let people scare you. You might have cramping for all kinds of reasons. I was told by my OB if it gets to the point where the cramps hurt so bad that you can barely talk or walk then I was to give them a call.  I would check with your OB to see what their protocal is to be on the safe side.

With my pre-op pregnancy, I felt like I was going to get my period ALL THE TIME in the first trimester!  Constantly crampy.  Hang in there...it's scary but it isn't necessarily anything to fear.

I have had 2 previous WLS babies and this is my first post op, and with all 3 I had the feeling that I was going to start my period throughout the first trimester.

Had lots of cramping like I was getting my period any momment.  Back pain was so bad at one point in the first trimest I thought I had injuried myself...they told me it was all of my muscles and lig. stretching out...I am sure you are right on track.
